The FarmDANCES model simulates the dynamics of organic carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) and of inorganic N available for plant uptake on grassland-based dairy farms. It quantifies mineralization and immobilization, NH3 volatilization and combined soil N losses (through runoff, leaching and denitrification). Farm management decisions on grassland management, the type of manures produced, adjustment of storage methods, and use of low-emission techniques influence these processes at various points of N cycle.
